Neighborhoods

The Tulsa Planning Office is building programs to support Tulsa’s neighborhoods.

The first element, the Neighborhood Toolkit, is now available, and the Downtown and Near-Downtown Neighborhood Housing Study was recently released. In the coming months, we’ll be hiring a planner to focus on neighborhood issues.

The Neighborhood Toolkit gives neighborhoods information, steps, and resources they need to accomplish several types of projects, most of which are recommendations and goals found within existing Small Area Plans.

Housing and Neighborhoods Policy Survey
The City is seeking to gather input to assist in policy recommendations in the current housing market is by rolling out a more detailed Housing & Neighborhoods Policy Survey. The Survey will seek to gather community perspectives on a range of topics related to neighborhood character, new housing in existing neighborhoods, and preferences for housing types.

Results from the survey will inform the ongoing update of the City’s Comprehensive Plan, PlaniTulsa, as well as guide implementation actions for the recently completed Affordable Housing Strategy and the Downtown Tulsa Housing Demand Study.

Affordable Housing Strategy
The City of Tulsa Affordable Housing Strategy is a living document designed to guide policy, process and decision making for housing in Tulsa. The City recognizes that to realize its vision of being a world-class city, it must address historical and current housing inequities. The strategy allows for economic growth and innovation while ensuring all Tulsans have access to decent, safe and appropriate housing that meets their needs. The strategy lays out a series of goals and action steps that will take place from 2020-2024. The strategy was designed and will be implemented in collaboration with the Housing Strategy Advisory board comprised of developers,
neighborhood stakeholders and social service providers.
