In early February, Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum and other city officials celebrated Planuary with our team in official Planuary t-shirts, designed and produced by our team.
Three years ago, the Tulsa Planning Office proclaimed that January and February as “Planuary” due to the 29 community planning meetings held during those two months. We didn’t break that record this year, but we held a large number of outreach events, including planitulsa open houses, Vibrant Neighborhoods Partnership workshops and walk audit, and Riverwood Neighborhood Improvement Strategy meetings.
During Planuary, we also began working to make it easier to build housing and redevelop existing retail, commercial, and hotel properties. In addition, we applied for a grant to improve connectivity in the Tulsa Global District, submitted implementation projects across the city for potential funding, met with city councilors about gateway welcome signage and citywide beautification efforts, and continued developing a new program that will provide neighbors with information and resources to improve their neighborhoods.
