Field Data Collection Interns
2 Positions Available
Tulsa Planning Office at INCOG

The Tulsa Planning Office at INCOG is seeking applicants for two part-time intern positions. Under the direct supervision of a Senior Planner, the interns will allocate their time to the “Clean Sweep” project, an initiative aimed at beautifying and improving safety along Tulsa’s main streets by decluttering the right-of-way and addressing zoning and building maintenance violations. Interns will conduct in-the-field inventories of these issues and assist in other initiatives performing entry-level professional planning duties.

The interns will work as a team and collaborate on tasks including doing research; conducting site visits to identify issues; gathering, compiling, and analyzing data; document creation; public outreach; and creating presentations to report back to supervisors. The positions require approximately 25% working in an office setting, and 75% working in the field.

The ideal candidates will have very strong attention to detail; have the ability and understanding of zoning codes, land descriptions and regulations; read and interpret legal descriptions; perform basic arithmetic for property and square footage calculations; analyze collected data to report back; possess basic knowledge of economic, social, health and/or physical needs of an urban community; be proactive and able to follow instructions; and work with other team members. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of GIS software and Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus.

Minimum qualifications: Interest in planning, geography, engineering, or related fields. Must possess and maintain a current, valid Oklahoma Driver License. Pay is $16.00 per hour, 20-30 hours per week. The position is funded through June 30, 2023, with a possible extension into the next fiscal year.
